How to Use TikTok to Make Your Beauty Brand Go Viral

TikTok, the video-sharing app that makes it easy to create and share short videos, has become one of the most popular social media platforms in recent years. If you’re looking to reach an audience outside of your usual social media channels, TikTok may be the perfect place to start. In this guide, we’ll walk you through exactly how to use TikTok as part of your marketing strategy so that you can benefit from its reach and attract new customers and followers who fit your brand’s target demographic.

Why TikTok

There’s no doubt that TikTok is one of the hottest social media platforms right now. With over 1 billion active users, it’s a great place to reach a large audience. But what makes TikTok so special? The app is all about posting short videos, and with its easy-to-use editing tools, there are tons of opportunities for creativity. Not only does this increase user engagement on your posts, but you’ll also see more traffic coming from outside the app.

Use Trending Sounds

If you want your videos to be heard by the masses on TikTok, you need to start with the right soundtrack. Keep your ear to the ground for what’s trending in music, and try to find a way to organically integrate popular songs into your videos. You can also look for creative ways to use sound effects to make your videos more engaging. If you can get users singing along or dancing to your videos, you’re well on your way to going viral.

Create Tutorials Using Your Products

One way to get your products in front of a wider audience is to create short tutorials using them. You can film yourself using the products and post the videos on TikTok. Be creative and have fun with it! The more unique and engaging your videos are, the more likely people are to watch them.

Repost Users Who Use Your Products

Follow popular TikTok beauty influencers and send them some products to try. If they love them, they may make a video using the products, and you can repost them. Also keep an eye out for posts your brand is being tagged in. By finding users who already love and use your products, you can repost their videos and grow your reach without having to make your own content. Repost their videos on your own account, and make sure to give them credit. This is a great way to get started because it shows that you’re active in the community and will inspire other TikTokers to give your brand a shoutout in their next video.

Leverage UGC for Content Variety

One of the best ways to use TikTok for your beauty brand is to leverage user-generated content (UGC). UGC is a great way to get content variety, and it can also help you build social proof. Having influencers or everyday users talking about your products can be a great way to get new customers interested in your brand.

Use Hashtags

Use hashtags to help promote your content and get it in front of the right people. For instance, try using the popular #FYP (for you page.)

Use Trending Transitions When You Can

If you’re trying to get your beauty brand noticed on TikTok, then you need to start using some of the trendy transitions that everyone is using. This will help make your videos more engaging and enjoyable to watch. Plus, it’ll also help you get more views and followers.

Use Influencers When You Can

When it comes to marketing on TikTok, one of the best ways to get started is by finding and working with influencers. Influencers have pre-existing audiences that you can tap into, and they can help you reach a wider audience than you would be able to on your own.

Promote Your Videos on Instagram

If you’re trying to reach a larger audience for your beauty brand, promoting your TikTok videos on Instagram is a great way to do it. You can post your videos as reels, which are similar to TikTok videos, and Instagram users who see them will be able to watch and share them. Plus, if you use hashtags, you can get your videos in front of even more people.

Engage With Your Followers

Of course, if you’re using TikTok or any social media platform, it’s important to engage with your followers. Reply to comments, answer questions, and post relevant content that will get people talking. The more you interact with your followers, the more likely they are to stick around – and share your content with their friends.

Growth Strategies for Beauty Businesses to Dominate the Industry

The beauty industry has been booming these past few years, and there’s no sign of it slowing down anytime soon. The industry’s continuous growth has brought about countless opportunities for established beauty businesses, including spas, salons and cosmetic retailers. However, with the increased competition that comes with growing popularity, staying ahead of the curve can be quite challenging – unless you have sound marketing strategies in place to keep your business competitive. Here are some growth strategies that will help you dominate the beauty industry.

Set Quantifiable Goals

Setting quantifiable goals is one way to set your business up for success. This will help you track your progress and ensure that you are on track to reach your targets. Furthermore, it will give you a clear idea of what needs to be done in order to achieve your desired results. Some examples of quantifiable goals that you could set for your beauty business include:

  • Monthly recurring revenue (MRR)

  • Customer lifetime value (LTV)

  • Average order value

  • Revenue growth rate

Attack a Niche

When it comes to beauty businesses, there’s a lot of competition out there. So, how can you make sure your business stands out from the rest? One way is to focus on a niche market. For example, if you have a salon that specializes in curly hair, offer more products specifically targeted toward that type of hair. Or perhaps your clientele is mostly middle-aged women; start to hone in on that market and offer products specific to them. That way, when people are looking for products or services related to their specific needs, they will be able to find them at your location.

Prioritize Your Brand

In a highly competitive industry like beauty, it’s more important than ever to make sure your brand is top of mind for consumers. Your brand should exude personality (ideally, one in which your target audience can relate to) use your colors, logos, brand voice, imagery, and more to make your brand stand out from the crowd.

Leverage Social Media

As a beauty business, it’s important to have a strong social media presence. Not only does this help you reach more potential customers, but it also allows you to create a community around your brand. Use hashtags that are popular in your industry and find influencers who are passionate about what you do. Your Instagram account should provide high-quality images of what goes on behind the scenes at your salon or store, as well as before and afters, tutorials, and customer photos that show off their new hairstyle or makeover.

Partner with Key Influencers

There’s no doubt that social media has drastically changed the beauty industry. In recent years, we’ve seen a surge in the popularity of bloggers, vloggers, and Instagram influencers. Partnering with these key influencers can help you reach a larger audience and promote your products or services in a relatable way.

Host Events

One way to get new clients in the door is by hosting events. This could be a VIP night, an open house, or even a trunk show. By hosting an event, you can showcase your products or services and get people talking about your business. Make sure to promote your event ahead of time so you can get as many people through the door as possible.

Set up an Online Store

An online store is a great way to reach a larger audience and get your products in front of potential customers who might not otherwise know about your business. Plus, it’s a convenient way for customers to purchase your products 24/7. If you need help setting up a beauty website, we can help!

Vintage Makeup is Making a Comeback – Here Are Our Favorite Looks

Trends in makeup come and go, but lately, we’ve been seeing vintage makeup making an awesome comeback! And why not? The 60s and 70s were the decades of glamour, after all, when the most iconic beauty looks were created – the winged eyeliner, the red lips, and the thick false lashes. We found some amazing vintage makeup looks you can copy right now to take your look back in time.

Old Hollywood Glam

We’re loving the resurgence of vintage glamour, and Old Hollywood is our favorite era to recreate. The key to getting that classic look is all in the details. First, start with a flawless base. Next, add some contouring to define your cheekbones. Then, fill in your brows for a polished look. Finally, add a pop of color with a bold red lip.

Look created using: Spotlight Shadow Primer, Malt and German Chocolate eyeshadow, Black Pearl Gel Liner, Barely Red Cheek and Lip tint, Hollywood Ultra Matte lipstick

The 50’s Red Lips

Red lips are classic, and there’s a reason they’ve been around for so long. They’re sexy, timeless, and flattering on just about everyone. If you’re thinking of rocking a red lip, here’s how to do it like a 1950s pinup girl.

Achieve this look using our Smooth & Creamy lipstick in Well Red or our Matte Lipstick in Matte Rogue

60’s Graphic Liner

Follow us on Instagram for the full tutorial!

Graphic eyeliner was iconic in the 60s, and it’s been making a comeback lately. To achieve this look, start by lining your upper lash line with a black liquid liner. Then, extend the liner outwards to create a wing. Next, use your eyeliner to create a perfect cut crease above the crease of your lid.

Look created using: Pressed mineral foundation, concealer, mineral eyeshadow in wink, stuck on you eyeliner fixative, black cake mineral eyeliner, Ecstacy blush, ginger lip liner, sheer shiny lipstick in exposed.

60’s Bushy Brows

Bushy, overgrown brows were all the rage in the 1960s and are back on the map this year as well. To get the look, start by filling in your brows with a pencil or powder that’s one shade darker than your natural hair color. Then, use a spoolie brush to comb the product through your brows, fluffing them up as you go. Next, use a clear gel to hold the shape in place. Finally, fill in any sparse areas with individual hairs using a pomade.

Achieve this look using: Wonderbrow pomade,Arch-ology unicolor brow pencil

70’s Sunkissed Skin

The ’70s were all about sunkissed, dewy skin- and we’re here for it. To get the look, start by prepping your skin with a honey hyaluronic complex. Then, apply a light foundation all over the face, focusing on evening out the skin tone. For bronzed cheeks, use a peachy blush and sweep it across the apples of your cheeks.

Achieve this look using: Honey hyaluronic cream complex, natural liquid foundation, cheek and lip tint

90’s Nude Lips

The nude lip was all the rage in the 1990s, and it’s making a comeback! To get the look, start by lining your lips with a nude lip pencil. Then, fill in your lips with flesh-toned lipstick or lip gloss. For extra definition, you can apply a second coat of lip liner. Finish off the look with some clear gloss or mascara.

Achieve this look using: Bare necessity, Exposed or Puppy Love

2022 Fall Makeup Trends: What to Expect and How to Be Prepare

Fall may be the beginning of cooler weather, but it’s also the time of year when beauty entrepreneurs should start planning their makeup collections around some notable fall makeup trends that are likely to be popular in the upcoming season. With fashion week in our rearview mirror and fall items beginning to make an appearance, we have an idea of the fall makeup trends to watch out for in 2022. Here are the fall beauty trends your business should prepare for.

Tinted Moisturizers

Tinted moisturizers are light foundation and moisturizer hybrids that have been on the rise this year, and we foresee this trend continuing into the fall. This product is perfect for busy women who want to get an even complexion without having to spend a lot of time on their makeup routine. It is also ideal for anyone with dry skin since it provides moisture as well as coverage.

Tinted moisturizer is a perfect product for the fall because it provides just enough coverage to even out skin tone while still allowing your natural beauty to shine through. Plus, it’s a great way to transition your skincare routine from summer to fall.

Shop Our Ready-to-Wear Moisture Tint

Statement Lips

Fall is the perfect time to break out the Statement Lips. This year’s trends are all about playing with color and texture, so have fun with it! We are seeing a rise in bold reds and oranges. Try stocking up on both matte and glossy finishes, and don’t forget matching lipliners to complete the look.

Shop Lip Products

Darker, Smokey Eyes

As the leaves start to change color and the days grow shorter, our makeup trends begin to change as well. This fall, we predict that smokier, darker eyes will be all the rage. We suggest offering a base primer and a custom palette with complimentary shades ranging from skin tone to black to accommodate this look. Offer a cool-toned palette with light whites, grays, silvers, and blacks and a warmer one with creams, oranges, and warm browns. The idea is to give a range of buildable shades that can achieve varying levels of depth and darkness.

Shop Ready-To-Wear Eye Products

Colored Winged Eyeliner

One of the biggest trends for fall 2022 is colored winged eyeliner. To get ahead of the trend, beauty businesses should start stocking up on colorful eyeliners in a variety of shades. Some of the most popular colors for fall will be blues, greens, and purples.

Shop Our Waterproof Gel Pencils

Glossy Lips

One of the biggest trends we expect to see in 2022 is glossy lips. This trend started to emerge in 2020 and shows no signs of slowing down. Beauty businesses should make sure they are stocking products that will help their customers achieve this look.

Shop Ready-to-Wear Lip Gloss

Pops of Color

As the leaves start to change color, so does the color of makeup. This fall, consumers will be ditching the neutrals and going for some bright, eye-catching colors. For instance, adding a pop of color in the inner corner of the eye, trying a bright lip color, or even some colorful eyeliner.

Matte Orange and Brown Tones

Fall always brings warmer tones into the makeup palette, and this year is no different. Look for orange and brown tones to be big in 2022. To make sure your beauty business is prepared, stock up on products in these shades.

So You Want to Start a Makeup Line: Here’s How Much It Costs

You’ve got the idea, you’ve got the passion, and now you’re ready to launch your makeup line! That’s great, but you probably have some questions about how much it’s going to cost to get your business off the ground. You’re not alone—we’ve spoken with many entrepreneurs who were ready to start their own businesses before they realized how much money it would take to get going. Let’s talk dollars and cents to get an idea of how much starting your makeup line will set you back in start-up costs.

What Affects the Cost of Setting Up a Beauty Brand?

The cost of starting a beauty brand has many variables but can be simplified by first breaking it down into two different categories, Contract Manufacturing and Private Label Wholesale.

Contract Manufacturing

Contract manufacturing has the most flexibility and is the best way to get the lowest cost per unit—although keep in mind that it requires a high unit volume. Most manufacturers have a 3,000 to 10,000 minimum quantity per shade. You can develop a proprietary formulation for as little as $1,000, but the cost depends on the product itself, the complexity of the formula, and the chemist’s rate based on her/his education and experience.

You also have the option to choose from a wide variety of packaging styles. Keep in mind that this is often a separate expense on top of the product formulation. Most packaging vendors have a minimum quantity order of 10,000 per packaging style. Packaging unit costs can range from $0.60 USD to $1.20 USD. Lead time from start to the delivery of finished goods to your door can range from 3 to 6 months with an estimated cost of $10,000 to $20,000 per line extension or shade range in a category (ie, lipstick, lip gloss, eyeshadow, etc.)

Private Label

Purchasing from a private label wholesale company reduces packaging and formula options, has a higher per-unit cost, but it’s the easiest, least expensive, and quickest path to launch a cosmetic line. You can buy low quantities from one to hundreds of units per shade. The products also come to you complete with your desired packaging and logo branding. The launch timeline is two to four weeks from start to finish. Compared to contract manufacturing, this tends to be much more cost-effective with a cost of $300 to $1000 per line extension or shade range in a category.

Custom Blend

A unique option to contract manufacturing and private labeling is to purchase Custom Blend systems, which allow you to make limitless variations of all shaded cosmetic products. The systems can be utilized as a small boutique factory or as a service to personalize cosmetics for your clients. If your custom blend products are in demand and you require larger volumes, you can send Colorlab your custom blend formula, and we can manufacture in quantities ranging from 250 units and up. Systems range from $1300 to $4200, and the timeline to launch is 3 to 4 weeks.

How to Get Started

Before you can start your makeup line, you’ll need to register with Colorlab. To do this, you’ll need to provide some basic information about your business, including your company name and contact information. Once you’re registered, you’ll be able to access our online ordering system and start creating your products.

Makeup Trends That Will Explode This Year and Next and How to Stay Ahead of the Curve [2022]

When you own your own beauty line, choosing the right products can be the difference between brand virality and seasonal decline. However, with countless products available and trends changing year in and year out, it can seem impossible to stay ahead of the curve. If you can relate, fear not! We have done the research, so you don’t have to. Below are the top makeup trends that have been exploding in 2022 and are trending to carry into 2023 as well.

Natural Eyebrows

We’ve been seeing a lot of natural eyebrows lately, and it’s a trend that’s here to stay. Gone are the days of tight arches and stenciled-on brows! Consumers want their brows to look fuller, fluffy, and natural. Think wax or laminate and eyebrow pens that let them replicate their hair’s natural growth. As such, we have also seen an uptick in eyebrow growth serums. Below are some of our private label products that can help you stay ahead of the trend.

Eyebrow or eyelash growth serum

Our Brow & Lash Growth Serum is powered with a high percentage (5%) of Capixyl derived from Red Clover Extract and Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3, a biomimetic peptide that will strengthen, lengthen, thicken and stimulate natural, noticeable hair growth. Clinical data results have proven a significant increase in hair growth and density while preventing hair loss.

Arch-ology brow pencil

A unique brow pencil with a triangle tip creates the perfect brow in minutes. The triangular shape allows you to sculpt with broad strokes using the flat edge of the pencil, as well as fill in with fine lines using the pointed tip. This unique triangular shape ensures precision application. Use the brush at the opposite end of the pencil to fine-tune the shape of the brow. This advanced formula combines powder, pencil, and wax to create naturally fuller brows. The lasting pigments release upon contact with the brows, while the soft waxes allow the pigments to fasten to the hair, subtly building volume in turn, enhancing the symmetry of your face.

Wonderbrow

Colorlab’s Wonderbrow Brow Tint colors define and enhance brows. Wonderbrow fills brows, set them in place, and emphasizes the natural arch. Can be used alone or mixed with mineral powders to alter the shade

Eye Glitter

Thanks to HBO’s Euphoria, eye glitter is back in! While consumers are opting for more natural looks during the daytime, glitter is coming out at night—particularly among the gen-zers. It is now popular to add it to the center of their top lids or create a teary under-eye effect. While all forms of glitter are making a comeback, the larger-piece dimensional glitter and translucent, vibrant glitter are taking the cake. Here are some of our glitter products that complement these growing glitter trends:

Eye art dimensional glitter

Dimensional Foil that makes a statement. Add a dab of Stuck on You Eyeliner Fixative for staying power to achieve the straight-off-the-runway look.

Fashion stack

Fashion Stack in yellow, fuchsia, blue, and purple. Soft and feminine glitter to add a sparkle to any look.

Bright lip colors

We’re seeing a lot of bright lip colors this year, and they’re only going to get more popular. These shades are perfect for making a statement—from electric pinks to vivid oranges. Satin and glossy finishes tend to be outperforming matte textures. Because natural skin and brows are trending, the bright lip colors are often paired with a more neutral, subtle, or otherwise natural look. Here are some products that will help you give your customers the bright lip shades they are looking for.

Smooth Creamy Lipstick in Casual Affair

Smooth, creamy lipstick infused with Vitamin E and Jojoba that soothes, hydrates, moisturizes and protects lips. Lipsticks add color and shine to lips with conditioning benefits that continue even after the color is removed.

Smooth Creamy Lipstick in Only in Florida

Sheer Shiny Lipstick in U Wear It Well

Lip Gloss in Not So Innocent

Dewy, natural skin

One of the biggest trends we’re seeing for 2022 is dewy, natural skin. This look is all about achieving a healthy, hydrated glow. While usually, we see a spike in this trend during the summer, this time, it has remained popular all year long. The trend begins with skincare, specifically products with a focus on hydration, moisture, and sun protection. Then we see lighter coverage, natural or satin-finish foundations, or skin tints accompanying this trend. To offer your own natural-skin products, try selling some of these products:

Daily dose skin nutrients

Packed with nutrients that hydrate, firm, soften and reinvigorate the skin. Loaded with Sodium Hyaluronate derived from marine ingredients Chondrus Crispus Seaweed and Chondrus Crispus Seaweed Extract, delivers immediate visible results as it melts into the skin producing a moisture-locking treatment. Can be used alone or as a booster.

Skin infusion – hydrate

Drench your skin with Sodium PCA, a natural Amino Acid and Prickly Pear a powerful humectant that attracts and retains moisture onto the skin.

Moisture tint foundation

This ‘good for you formula’ is lightweight and sheer for naturally radiant skin. The nourishing aloe-based formula is loaded with a full menu of active ingredients; Argireline, Collagen Tripeptides, Copper, Manganese, Zinc, Sodium PCA and Vitamins A, C and E.

Reflective Finish Compacts

Reflective Finishing Powders, made with skin nourishing actives, have been infused with illuminating mineral pearls to finish skin with a natural sheen and outer glow. The surface treated minerals, high-tech velvetizers and optical diffusers create a silky texture and un-powder finish that will not settle into lines. Powders allow light to bounce across the skins surface and diminish fine lines and wrinkles. These powders contain a water shuttle time-release microfilm that hydrates the skin. Loaded with Diamond Complex and Diamond Peptides that penetrate, protect and prolong cell function while creating a silky smooth, soft focus, line diffusing effect

Graphic eyeliner

We’re seeing a resurgence of graphic eyeliner, with celebrities and influencers alike rocking the look. The key to this trend is precision: use a fine-tip liquid liner to draw on your desired shape, then fill it in with a matching eyeshadow. For a more subtle take on the trend, try using a dark eyeshadow instead of liquid liner. Try adding one of these to your product line:

Pressed eyeliner compact

Now you will have several ways to create the elongated liner, cat eye or just a thin line of eyeliner to fill in the baseline of lashes. Use with our Stuck on You! Eyeliner Fixative for the ultimate in long-lasting eyeliner.

Waterproof gel eye liner pencils

High pigmented, ultra-smooth, smudge-proof, waterproof gel eye pencil in an array of shades that will enhance the eyes with precise definition or smolder for a dramatic effect. Retractable pencil that includes a built-in sharpener to create a super fine point.

Matte eyeshadow compacts

Colorlab’s luxuriously silky pressed mineral eyeshadows glide on smoothly and effortlessly for long lasting, crease-proof color. Delicately milled and microfine, the mineral shadows reflect light away from fine lines and add vibrancy to the eye. They are free of talc, fragrance and other skin irritants.
